"Shadow of the Almighty"

"Shadow of the Almighty" is basically a biography of Jim Elliot. It was written by his wife Elisabeth Elliot after his death.

Pros: It is by a Christian author, and is a biography of a Christian missionary. It is filled with scripture, and many theological subjects.

Cons: It is mainly comprised of journal entries, and letters, and is very dry. Other than that, there are no other cons!

Over all, I didn't really like the book. It was really dry, and I got easily bored reading it. Unless you really like reading journal entries or letters, you may not like it. However, it is highly a matter of personal opinion, and I will leave it up to the reader to decide!

"Where The Red Fern Grows"

Hi there!!

Ok... so a few months ago, I read Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. It was a really great read!!  There are a few scary parts, so it is definitely not a child's book. Beware though if you read it... you will not be dry-eyed!! :)

Pros: It is about a family during the Great Depression that is going through some hard times, but they all learn to pull together. Christianity is sprinkled throughout the book, and altogether it is a really fun read!!

Cons: There is a lot of violence and blood. One boy is killed by falling over an axe. There is mild drinking of Moon Shine, and also mild language.

Personally, I love the book. It has lots of animals, and most of the book is in the woods!! There are also a lot of great morals!! ENJOY!!

"Cyrano de Bergerac"

YAY! Looks like I get the first review post! :)

The book that I am reviewing is called "Cyrano de Bergerac" and was written by Edmond Rostand in 1897. It is actually a play that I saw performed by "Shakespeare in the Park," and it quickly became my all time favorite play!

Pros: It is available in Old English and translated, so it can be either easily read, or can be used for practice for things like Shakespeare. It is a GREAT comedy and will keep you laughing the whole entire time!

Cons: It is a play, so unless you have seen it (or have a really good imagination), it may be hard to read. It has some language...so be careful.

Overall, I think it is TOTALLY worth reading!!! It contains many great aspects, such as daring sword fights. PLUS, it includes many fun conversations between characters, making it quite fun to quote later! In the end, it is definitely worth the time it takes to read!

Hi There!!
